ACC/SEC TOP 20 WEEK 15
1. Alabama (13-0, 9-0)
The Tide took their rightful place atop the college football world. This team is so far ahead of the rest of the teams in the country. I really believe the National Championship will be a laugher.
2. Florida (12-1, 8-1)
Tebow and company failed to get it done for the first time in over a year. They are still the second best team in the land in my opinion but just didn’t have the weapons. I feel sorry for Cincinnati though, this team will be fired up
3. LSU (9-3, 5-3)
The Bayou Bengals slipped away with another win over Arkansas, something they havent done in three years, and they should be able to squeak into another top 10 finish with a bowl win.
4. Ole Miss (8-4, 4-4)
The loss to rival Mississippi State was less of an indictment on the Rebels as it was the showcasing of the greatly improved Bulldogs. They have proven down the stretch that they are the fourth best team in the SEC and that puts them clearly in the top 20 in the nation.
5. Tennessee (7-5, 4-4)
Lane Kiffin and the Vols did what they had to do against Kentucky to make a new years day bowl, apparently the Outback Bowl is smitten with Kiffin. This team is senior laden and talented and will be dangerous for whomever they play in a bowl game.
6. Arkansas (7-5, 3-5)
I have thought highly of the Hogs all season and they didn’t prove me wrong in the the thrilling 3 point overtime loss to #13 LSU. Mallett throws the most beautiful pass in college football. I feel sorry for their bowl opponent as well.
7. Georgia (7-5, 3-5)
The Bulldogs won three out of their last four, including last Saturdays victory at Georgia Tech, to save Mark Richts job. They have underachieved all season long but the talent is clearly their and they can score on anyone.
8. Auburn (7-5, 3-5)
The Tigers are probably a top 25 team but ending your season on a two game loosing streak was a huge disappointment. They slugged it out with Alabama, but Auburn has had trouble making the game winning plays down the stretch.
9. South Carolina (7-5, 3-5)
This team proved all season to be just average in the SEC, but the Gamecocks have a fierce defense and would be a conference champion in half the conferences in America, most notably the ACC.
10. Georgia Tech (11-2, 8-1)
The Yellow Jackets have yet to play defense this season and proved they are just not quite ready to compete on a national level with the loss to Georgia, But an ACC championship is something fans should be proud of and the offense is scary it will be interesting to see how they match up in the bowl.
11. Kentucky (7-5, 3-4)
Kentucky is a solid football team and they have won 7 games in a far superior conference than the ACC teams with better record. With big wins over Auburn and Georgia, the Wildcats accomplished more this season than any ACC team.
12. Virginia Tech (9-3, 6-2)
The loss to Georgia Tech is the only thing keeping this team from taking their rightful place as the best team in the ACC. This is the one ACC team that should scare potential bowl opponents.
13. Miami (9-3, 5-3)
The Hurricanes played better than I expected against South Florida and this young team will only get better but, as the third best team in their own division in a terrible conference, I just cant justify moving them any higher.
14. Clemson (8-5, 6-3)
The Tigers spiral continued with a second pathetic defensive performance in a row and they better correct their mistakes quick because Randall Cobb will wildcat Kentucky up and down the field if Clemson lets him.
15. Boston College (8-4, 5-3)
The Eagles talent is below average. Their heart is above average. I feel bad putting a team that plays as hard as Boston College does this low but once again, to win only 5 games in a weak conference is just not good enough.
16. North Carolina (8-4, 4-4)
The Tar Heels have epitomized inconsistency. Last week was the first week I gave them credit and started thinking they had turned the corner but a loss to NC State is unforgivable. Butch Davis is not getting it done the way we all believed he would.
17. Mississippi State (5-7, 3-5)
The Bulldogs are another team that would have a much better record if they played in a different conference. Dan Mullen deserves some SEC coach of the year consideration and MSU is a few players away from being back.
18. Florida State (6-6, 4-4)
It is time for the Seminoles to move on. Bobby Bowden looks totally confused on the sideline. Whats worse is he looks apathetic. This is a terrible football team, especially without Christian Ponder, and they don’t deserve whatever bowl bid they get.
19. Wake Forest (5-7, 3-5)
The Deacons senior class showed some pride by beating Duke but this was not the kind of season they were hoping for and Jim Grobe will have to regroup quickly if he doesn’t want to lose the program he built.
20. Duke (5-7, 3-5)
The Blue Devils blew their chances at a non-winning season but they have to walk away from this season happy with the improvement they made. The question is did they only get better because their conference got worse?

South Carolina would beat Aubrun or Georgia right now. We’d beat Ark. and probably Tenn. in Columbia, but I’d can live with those 2 ranked ahead of USC. Glad to see Ky. ranked ahead of Clemson. Clemson is favored vs Ky. but that does not make sense to me.
Actually UGA was 4-4 in the SEC and beat Arkansas straight up so you need to move us up a spot. Other than that good ranking.
Mark Richt’s job was never on the line against GT. Very poor to suggest that it was.
