Greenville, SC man charged with child pornography crime
Attorney General Henry McMaster announced today that Courtney Lynn Campbell, 61, of 123 Robin Drive, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, was arrested on June 1, 2010, by the City of Mauldin Police Department for distribution of child pornography.
The Mauldin Police Department is a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Task Force investigators have received training on the use of special software to conduct undercover investigations related to the sharing of child pornography on peer-to-peer (file sharing) networks.
Campbell is charged with one (1) count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (§16-15-405), 2nd Degree, a felony offense punishable by two (2) to ten (10) years imprisonment.
Campbell is charged with sharing digital photographs and videos over the Internet depicting children engaged in sex acts. Campbell’s computer was seized and taken to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office (also a Task Force member) for forensic examination. Files containing the pornographic images were found on that computer.
The Fountain Inn Police Department, also a member of the Task Force, assisted in the case. Campbell was assigned a $30,000 bond. A booking photo is available through the Greenville County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
